Last week a new poster for Young-nam Kim's "Boat", starring Jung-woo Ha, Satoshi Tsumabuki, and Shihori Kanjiya, was released to various Korean media outlets along with a full trailer in anticipation of its domestic release on May 28th. The Japanese official website for the film (which they're calling "No Boys, No Cry") is now online and features an alternate teaser trailer. The Japanese release date hasn't been announced yet.
In the film, Jung-woo Ha (The Chaser, My Dear Enemy) plays a low-level smuggler named Hyeong-gu who uses a small boat to unwittingly transport drugs to his counterpart in Japan, Toru (Tsumabuki), 3 or 4 times a month. When their boss orders them to kidnap a Korean business owner's daughter (Soo-yeon Cha) and bring her to Japan, Toru sees an opportunity to double cross their own organization to earn a huge sum of money on the side. Clueless Hyeong-gu gets caught in the middle of the scam as things go bad for both of them in a hurry.
The script was penned by Aya Watanabe, who previously wrote screenplays for Maison de Himiko and A Gentle Breeze in the Village, among others.
