    Mizuki Yamamoto as Rin

    On Thursday it was revealed that actress and fashion model Mizuki Yamamoto (21) has been cast in Kentaro Otani and Keiichi Sato’s upcoming live-action movie adaptation of Black Butler.

    She’ll play an original character in the film, a maid named Rin. The role will require Yamamoto to be involved in intense action scenes (involving guns, etc.) for the first time in her career. She reportedly spent two months training before filming began.

  • Trailer for "Ask This of Rikyu" (Rikyū ni Tazuneyo) starring Ebizo Ichikawa

    The official website for Mitsutoshi Tanaka’s Ask This of Rikyu has been updated with a new 1-minute trailer.

    Based on a Naoki Prize-winning historical novel by Kenichi Yamamoto, the movie stars Ebizo Ichikawa as tea master Sen no Rikyu. After Rikyu is ordered to commit seppuku by Toyotomi Hideyoshi (Nao Omori), his wife So-on (Miki Nakatani) asks him something that causes him to reflect back on his life and a long-held secret.

  • Takashi Miike and Ebizo Ichikawa team up again for new “Yotsuya Kaidan”

    On Tuesday it was announced that Takashi Miike will direct Shin-Yotsuya Kaidan, a new adaptation of one of the most famous Japanese ghost stories of all time. It was also revealed that kabuki actor Ebizo Ichikawa has been cast in the lead role.

    This will be the second team-up for Miike and Ichikawa after Hara-Kiri: Death of a Samurai, which premiered at the 64th Cannes Film Festival in 2011.
