“Bayside Shakedown: The Movie 3” to be released on July 3, 2010

On Wednesday producer Chihiro Kameyama announced that Bayside Shakedown: The Movie 3 (Odoru Daisosasen The Movie 3) will be released on July 3, 2010. Kameyama has been closely involved with the franchise since producing the original TV drama which aired on Fuji TV in 1997. The series, which received tremendous ratings for its unique style of infusing comedy into a police drama, was followed up by a slew of specials, films, and spin-offs in the following years.

Plot details have yet to be released, but the third film will see the promotions of Aoshima (Yuji Oda) to Chief Detective and Muroi (Toshiro Yanagiba) to commissioner, highlighting the growth of these two characters.

The film’s official website will soon be updated with info about a new character and photographs from the shoot, which will begin at the start of the new year. Director Katsuyuki Motohiro is also a pretty active tweeter, so chances are random tidbits will be leaking out from all directions on this one. It’s also been announced that new flyers and posters will be released to theaters nation-wide on December 19. According to Kameyama, the flyers contain mysterious phrases like “Missing Army Coat”, “Savings Without Sanctuary”, and “Muroi’s Letter” which are part of a larger puzzle for fans to figure out while waiting for further announcements.
