Catch Katsuhito Ishii’s “Sorasoi” at San Francisco’s NEW PEOPLE from 9/25-10/1

Just a quick heads up that Katsuhito Ishii's Sorasoi will be screened at Viz's new theater/cultural complex NEW PEOPLE tonight (Fri. 9/25) until next Thursday (10/1). Ishii will be in attendance at tonight's screening with some of the cast and crew. This will be the film's regional premiere; its world premiere came at the Hawaii International Film Festival last October.

The film is an indie comedy produced by Nice Rainbow actor’s workshop and directed collaboratively by Ishii, Shunichiro Miki, and Yuuuka Ooosumi. Filmed in mockumentary style, the story involves a group of college students staying at a hostel together and practicing for an upcoming dance competition. When a mysterious girl named Yuri shows up, one of the boys falls in love at first sight.

MAD KIDS cell phone strapAccording to this post, Ishii will be giving away "funky" cell phone straps to everyone who shows up for the premiere tonight.

If you've seen "Funky Forest: The First Contact", you'll recognize the design -- they're the "MAD KIDS" from Takefumi's dream sequence. They do a weird little dance to a song by Little Tempo and Master Pata.
