Details on Takashi Shimizu’s upcoming 3D thriller project, “The Shock Labyrinth”

Back in April, Asmik Ace Entertainment revealed their 2009-2010 lineup and included a Takashi Shimizu film tentatively called "3D Thriller Project" with no additional details at that time. Now, thanks to Jason Gray at Screen Daily, some new information has finally surfaced.

The digital 3D film, now titled The Shock Labyrinth (Senritsu Meikyu 3D), will feature a mostly young cast including Yuya Yagira, Misako Renbutsu, Ryo Katsuji, Ai Maeda, Erina Mizuno, and Suzuki Matsuo.

The Shock LabyrinthPlot: One rainy night a young girl named Yuki goes missing under mysterious circumstances. Following a 10-year absense, she suddenly returns. Her friends Ken, Hajime, Rin, as well as her sister Miyu are confused, but happy to finally see her again. Later that night, Yuki suddenly faints and they try to bring her to the hospital. When they arrive, they find the hospital building itself is actually a strange, mystical labyrinth.

The concept of the film was taken from the Senritsu Meikyu amusement park attraction at Fuji-Q High Land located near Mt. Fuji. The haunted house has set the Guinness world record for "The Longest Horror House Walk-Through" and will serve as a primary shooting location during the park's off hours. Filming began last week.

Asmik Ace will be releasing the film in Japan sometime in October and will also handle international sales.
