Eleven Arts picks up rights to Nishimura’s “Vampire Girl vs. Frankenstein Girl”

Variety Japan is reporting that Eleven Arts will be handing world sales for Yoshihiro Nishimura's Vampire Girl vs. Frankenstein Girl. They previously handled sales of Nishimura's Tokyo Gore Police which got picked up in the US by Media Blasters/Tokyo Shock fairly quickly. A domestic release has been set for August 15th at Theater N Shibuya and Cinemart Shinjuku, with a nationwide release to follow. Apparently the film is already tentatively planned to be screened at the New York Asian Film Festival (NYAFF), Montreal's Fantasia Film Festival, and South Korea's Puchon International Fantasic Film Festival (PiFan) in the next few months.

The film is based on a Shungicu Uchida manga about teenaged vampire girl named Monami (Yukie Kawamura) who tries to win over her high school crush by converting him into a vampire via tainted Valentine’s Day chocolate. When his current girlfriend, Keiko (Elly Otoguro of Onechanbara), tries to get revenge she's quickly dispatched by the powerful Monami. Keiko's mad scientist father decides to piece her back together, complete with various "improvements" to help assist her in a rematch against the boyfriend-stealing vampire.

Naoyuki Tomomatsu (Stacy, Zombie Self-Defense Force) wrote the screenplay and directed the dramatic sequences. Nishimura of course handled all the gore and Tak Sakaguchi helped choreograph the action/fight sequences. Fangoria visited the set during filming recently and posted all sorts of blood-splattery stills.

Here's the trailer, only work safe if you happen to work in a slaughter house:

Edit: Just noticed THR got to this one ahead of me. Oh well, more translation practice.
