Making-of clip posted for ‘Umi no Ue no Kimi wa, Itsumo Egao’

The staff of Umi no Ue no Kimi wa, Itsumo Egao, Ichiro Kita’s next film starring Mitsuki Tanimura, have posted a new making-of clip on its official website. If nothing else, it will help you memorize that ridiculously long title, which means something like “You’re on the sea, always smiling”. You can find the clip here.

The story revolves around a 17-year old high school student and basketball player named Migiwa (Tanimura) who has a secret crush on a boy named Riku (Dori Sakurada). One day Riku asks her if she surfs, and without thinking she lies and says she does. She quickly begins practicing on her own to cover for her lie, but when she gets swept up in a wave, the board drifts away from her and gets lost. Panicked, she hops on her bike and pedals around the coastal area of Shonan looking for anywhere it may have washed up. Like a typical road movie, she meets various people in her travels and experiences some personal growth.

Part of the proceeds for the film will go toward youth programs in Fujisawa and Chigasaki, as well as environmental protection along the Kanagawa coast.
