Thunderbolt Buddha was infused with electricity when he was jolted with electricity as a small child while trying to climb a gigantic electrical tower. Dragon Eye Morrison gained his electrical conductivity through years of shock therapy attempting to tame his violent animalistic spirit. Today Morrison keeps to himself, occasionally releasing all his built up energy by playing the guitar and he spends his days searching the streets for lost lizards. One day Thunderbold Buddha decides to pick a fight with Morrison, and the two electrically charged combatants let all their energy loose on each other.

In a dystopian future where Asia has just defeated Europe after a 50-year war, a geneticist strives to use “neo cells” to cultivate human body parts to heal victims of the devastation. Unfortunately his experiments cause unforeseen results and a group of mutants is created who are now bent on destroying the human race. The geneticist’s own son, now known as “Casshern” is also given special powers but he decides to use them to fight for the against the other mutants for the sake of humanity.

One day 23-year-old slacker rock musician Masaru is approached by a robot otaku who claims his voice is needed to activate a giant robot called Land Zeppelin who is the last defense against the attacking Saturians. Masaru initially tries to brush the man off but when he gets cornered by a few nefarious characters he decides to suspend disbelief for a moment and take a shot at calling Land Zeppelin to his aid.
