The official website for Junji Sakamoto’s hardboiled revenge thriller Chameleon: Long Goodbye is now live. There isn’t much content yet but there is a 45 second teaser featuring a really scruffy Tatsuya Fujiwara standing around looking badass. Release is scheduled for this summer.

An aspiring lawyer named Light Yagami (Tatsuya Fujiwara) picks up a notebook thrown down to earth by a mischievous god of death. Upset by the ineffectiveness of the criminal justice system he takes it upon himself to execute criminals by writing their names down in the “death note”. When police officials start to get suspicious of the mounting death toll they seek out the help of a genius FBI agent named “L” (Kenichi Matsuyama) who begins to track down the murderer now known as Kira. Backed in a corner, Light starts to kill innocent people to cover his tracks as his true nature begins to surface.

A woman (Miki Nakatani) allows herself to be kidnapped in a scheme to trick her rich businessman husband into paying a ransom. The man helping her (Masato Hagiwara) returns home one day to find her dead. Left with no other option he buries her corpse out in the middle of the woods. When Shigeharu Aoyama (Ryo Ishibashi) decides it’s time for him to remarry years after his wife’s death his producer friend helps him stage a fake movie audition as a way to meet women. He gets more than he bargained for however, when the woman he chooses, Asami Yamazaki (Eihi Shiina), turns out to be deeply disturbed by her traumatic past.
