‘Hana Yori Dango: Final’ finally coming to DVD… but without English subtitles

This will mark the first time I’ve ever bothered posting anything about a DVD release without English subtitles or an English-language audio track—but after being asked literally hundreds of times if I know when the first “Boys Over Flowers” movie will be available on DVD since posting about it here back in June, I guess it’s an important thing to announce.

TC Entertainment will be releasing a Standard Edition and Premium Edition on December 19, 2008. Both versions are region 2, NTSC, 16:9 letterboxed, DVD9 with Japanese Dolby 5.1 and stereo audio. Includes Japanese subtitles only.

Hana Yori Dango: Final Standard Edition DVD

Standard Edition
Retail price: 3,990 yen

1 disc. Includes 131 min. theatrical version of the movie and trailers.

Hana Yori Dango: Final Premium Edition DVD

Premium Edition
Retail price: 9,975 yen
Pre-order at CDJapan

3 discs. Comes in a collector’s travel case and the first pressing includes 5 postcards. The main disc includes the 131 min. theatrical cut of the movie and trailers. Bonus discs include the 160 min. director’s cut version, 32 min. of unreleased scenes, making-of footage, event footage, cast interview, special TV program for the movie, and more.

i was directed to your site while I was trying to find english subs for the movie Utatama. I started reading your posts and all i can say, is I LOVE YOUR SITE. I am falling in love with Japanese movies and your site has given me a lot of info on what movies to look forward to. Though I have to wait longer since I don’t speak Japanese I and I don’t live in Japan, I have to wait for english subbed dvds to be available in yesasia or other outlets. thank you soo much and ganbatte

Ohh.. I’m so disappointed that there won’t be any english subtitles on the DVD :( I don’t understand why they can’t make them, it would probably make better buisness..

Dont wrry...now that the DVD is finally coming out...and its NTSC..It will be very easy for the “Subber Teams” ( is this what they like to be called? xP ) to SUB it in English…
But if you search now..you can find a lot of boot-leg (theater recorded) versions of the HYD:F movie...with some soft and every now and then hard subs...but the video quality is really bad...contrast is never good with these..=(....so i think ima wait for the dvd release so someone can Buy it!...upload it =P and SUB it..xD yay!
