Keralino Sandorovich has completed production on his next latest nonsense comedy, Tsumi Toka Batsu Toka, which roughly translates to something along the lines of “Sorta Crime and Sorta Punishment” although that’s obviously not quite as catchy in English. On Thursday, he and his 16-year-old lead actress Riko Narumi offered greetings from the stage at a preview event for the film held at Space FS Shiodome in Tokyo.
According to Tokyograph, the story involves an unsuccessful idol (Narumi) who participates in a common “police chief for a day” PR opportunity, only to end up trying to resolve a real robbery situation at a local convenience store.
This is Sandorovich’s third feature film based on his own script, the first two being “1980” and “Gummi, Chocolate, Pine”—not including his lauded 2006 BS Fuji feature-length special, A Delicious Way to Kill. He said that as long as the finished product is something you can laugh at, then he’s satisfied with his work. He went on to compliment Narumi’s natural acting ability, calling her a “child prodigy”.
This is Narumi’s first comedic role, but she said she really couldn’t tell it was a comedy from reading the script. I’m sure she meant that in a nice way.
“Tsumi Toka Batsu Toka” will be released in the spring of 2009.
