In A Long Walk (Nagai Sanpo), Ken Ogata plays Matsutaro Yasuda, an old man with a history of physically abusing his wife and daughter. When his wife dies and his daughter wants nothing more to do with him he moves to a small town in Aichi Prefecture to escape his past. He’s quickly reminded of it, however,  when a little girl in his apartment complex is being abused by her mother on a daily basis. Unable to stand by any longer he takes it upon himself to befriend and protect the girl, and in so doing he’s able to atone for his own history of violence.
