A Blue Automobile [Standard Edition]

In A Blue Automobile (Aoi Kuruma, 2004), Arata makes his return to film acting in the role of a spiky-haired, bleach-blond DJ named Richio. His strange outward appearance is only meant as a shield however, as he was deeply traumatized with a childhood event that left his eye scarred. A dark, brooding personality doesn’t hurt him with the ladies though. Not only is he dating a real estate agent named Akemi (Kumiko Aso), but he’s also caught the attention of her teenage sister, Konomi (Aoi Miyazaki). Caught in the middle of a complicated love triangle, Richio finally comes to grips with his suppressed emotional pain and opens up.

Region 2, NTSC, 16:9, DVD5. This is a priced-down re-issue which includes the main movie with Japanese audio and optional English subtitles only. For the original Premium Edition with all special features, see this link.
