UK distributor Revolver Entertainment will be releasing Hideo Nakata’s English-language psychological thriller Chatroom on Blu-ray and DVD this April.

In the film, Kick-Ass star Aaron Johnson plays a secluded teenager named William who starts a “Chelsea Teens!” chatroom. When Jim, Eva, Emily and Mo meet William online, they quickly take to William’s seemingly charismatic, quick-witted personality, but his online persona masks a much darker side. In reality, he’s incapable of forming healthy relationships with people in everyday life, so he instead spends his time trying to manipulate people in cyberspace.

When Jim shares his personal troubles with the group, admitting to them that he’s on antidepressants, William portrays the role of a caring friend and suggests that Jim should give up the drugs and rely on the support of his new online friends. However, his real goal is to push Jim over the edge and manipulate him into harming himself as part of a twisted power game. Eva, Emily, and Mo soon realize this, but it may be too late to stop what has already been set in motion.
