Director Sogo Ishii brings us another frenetically-paced experimental film with Dead End Run. Three separate segments are tied together by the central theme of being caught in some sort of dead-end situation. In part one involves a confrontation between a man and woman in a dark alley. There’s a violent attack and then—a dance number? Part two stars Masatoshi Nagase as the target of a deadly futuristic assassin. Part three stars Tadanobu Asano as an outlaw who gets chased to a rooftop where he finds a woman on the verge of suicide. Region 2, NTSC, anamorphic widescreen, DVD9.
