Demon Pond - Cinema Epoch

Takashi Miike’s 2005 stage play based on the Meiji era fairytale written by Kyoka Izumi. In the play a man goes north in search of his friend who is now a hermit living on a mountain near Demon Pond. Villagers must ring a bell 3 times a day to keep a mythical dragon princess from leaping out of the pond and destroying their village in an attempt to reach her mate at the mountain’s base, but when the bell is destroyed she finally gets her chance.
