Blu-ray release - Ichi: The Movie (Funimation) available on 12/22/2009

US distributor Funimation will be releasing Fumihiko Sori's Ichi: The Movie (2008) on DVD and Blu-ray disc this December.

Plot: A blind shamisen player named Ichi (Haruka Ayase) travels the countryside trying to eke out a living while defending herself from unscrupulous bandits who are constantly trying to take advantage of her seemingly helpless state. However, Ichi is anything but helpless. She spent her childhood being trained in swordsmanship by her long lost father, a man she dreams of being reunited with. One day she crosses paths with a man named Toma (Takao Osawa), an expert swordsman who's either unable or unwilling to draw his blade due to a traumatic incident from his past. When they get pulled into a vicious battle between two warring factions in a small town, Ichi becomes aware of a certain bandit warlord who may have knowledge of her father's whereabouts. Will she find the information she's looking for? And can Toma find the courage to defend the town from gangsters in her absence?
