In Yasuzo Masumura’s controversial 1966 film, a strong-willed young woman from a working class family is kidnapped and forced into working as a geisha after being tattooed with the image of a spider against her will. Quietly seething in this life she never wanted, she makes it her main goal to seek revenge against every man who approaches her looking for a good time.
