Blu-ray release - Mega Monster Battle: Ultra Galaxy Legend The Movie (Bandai Visual) available on April 23, 2010

Great news for dedicated Ultraman fans; last year’s highly epic addition to the franchise, Mega Monster Battle: Ultra Galaxy Legend The Movie, is set to be released in April on Japanese R2 DVD (Standard Edition and Limited Edition Memorial Box) and Blu-ray with English subtitles! It’s a welcome move by distributor Bandai Visual, which has been going English-friendly with their releases quite a bit recently.

Plot: The evil Ultraman Belial was imprisoned by the Ultraman King tens of thousands of years ago. When he finally escapes, he attempts to use the Giga-Battlenizer to control 100 giant monsters and conquer the galaxy. On the Ultraman homeworld, where there is no 3-minute time restriction, a team of 50 Ultramen including Ultraman, Ultra Seven, and Ultraman Mebius among many others mobilize to put a stop to Ultraman Belial’s plans and face off against his monsters.

Specs: Blu-ray region A, 16:9 1080p, DVD-9, 106 min. (96 min. movie + 10 min. features), 2 discs (picture-labeled). Japanese TrueHD 5.1 and stereo audio tracks with selectable English and Japanese subtitles. Features include teaser, theatrical trailer, TV spot, promotional video, digital gallery, audio commentary from the main staff (Junya Okabe, Koichi Sakamoto, et al.), and 5.1ch version of BGMs remixed by Michael Verta.
