Japanese distributor Bandai Visual will be releasing Yuji Nakae’s 1999 film, Nabbie’s Love (Nabbie no Koi), on Blu-ray with English subtitles in July. The original DVD version came out way back in 2000 and doesn’t have subtitles.
Plot: When Nanako (Naomi Nishida) quits her job in Tokyo and moves back home to Okinawa to be with her family, she inadvertently discovers that her spunky 79-year-old grandmother Nabbie (Tomi Taira) is having an illicit affair with ferry captain Sunra (Susumu Taira). When the relationship comes to light the other villagers try to force Nabbie and Sunra to cut off all contact, but after losing out on true love 60 years earlier, Nabbie refuses to give it up this time around.
Region-free Blu-ray, 1080p. Japanese linear PCM stereo audio with selectable English subtitles (main movie only). Features include theatrical trailer, commentary track (with Yuji Nakae, Tomi Taira, and Seijin Noborikawa), and OST chapter.
