Hong Kong distributor Kam & Ronson is releasing Eiichiro Hasumi's Oppai Volleyball (2009) on DVD with English subtitles and it will be available for order later this month, only a few days after the the Japanese DVD is released.
The film was released in Japan back in April and stars Haruka Ayase as a 23-year-old teacher named Mikako who loses her confidence in her ability to deal with students. For a fresh start, she signs up to be the advisor of the boys' volleyball team. She soon discovers the team only has five players who've barely even touched a volleyball and would much rather spend their time obsessing over girls than practicing. Unsure how else to motivate this group, she eventually gets coaxed into promising to show her "oppai" (breasts) if they manage to win a game. Although initially motivated to work hard and practice more, deep down they realize that she probably won't be able to keep her promise -- nor does she want to -- but they build up a relationship of mutual trust and want to win for her anyway. At the same time, Mikako begins to regain the confidence she recently lost. Unfortunately, school administrators eventually find out about the "oppai promise", and Mikako's career is placed in jeopardy.
Region 3, NTSC, anamorphic widescreen. Japanese Dolby 5.1 audio with selectable English, simplified Chinese, and traditional Chinese subtitles.
