In Panda! Go, Panda! (Panda Kopanda, 1972), a 7-year-old named Mimiko (Kazuko Sugiyama) sends her grandmother off at the train station and returns home in her small village, assuming she’ll be left home alone. However, when she returns she finds a baby panda waiting for her. She befriends the panda, who she names “Pannie” and is later introduced to his father, who she names “Papanda”. The three of them act as a happy family and have a string of happy adventures.
