In Revenge of a Kabuki Actor (Yukinojo Henge), aka “An Actor’s Revenge”, legendary filmmaker Kon Ichikawa offers his take on the classic play in which a kabuki performer and female-impersonator named Yukinojo (Kazuo Hasegawa) methodically plans his revenge against the man who drove his parents to commit suicide 20 years earlier and his two business associates. Utilizing all his skills, he sets his elaborate scheme in motion, first by seducing the man’s daughter Namiji and then attempting to ruin his life one step at a time.
