US DVD label Tokyo Erotique/Cinema Epoch will be releasing Secrets of a Desperate Housewife (Hitozuma: Etsubaku no Utage, 2008) in July. It was actually announced a while back, but it took a bit of digging to get any background info. It was originally a straight-to-DVD release in May of 2008 and is derivative of the works of S&M author Oniroku Dan—specifically “Flower & Snake”, “Yugao Fujin”, and “Hisho: Kuro Sasori Yuuwaku”. Churning out S&M films with similar storylines and slapping Oniroku Dan’s name on the cover is a bit of a cottage industry in Japan, and this one certainly seems to fit the bill.
Plot: Sonoe (Anri Suzuki) was an ordinary housewife until her husband’s company went bankrupt and she met his arch rival, a man named Tsuyama (Seiji Nakamitsu). Tsuyama invites Sonoe to his home where she witnesses women being tied up and tortured. Eventually Sonoe is tied up and raped herself. She’s initially ashamed and feels guilty for betraying her husband, but also must come to grips with her newfound masochistic tendencies.
Region 1, NTSC. Japanese audio with English subtitles.
