When a group of girls offer to deliver the brass band’s lunches at a local baseball game they get sidetracked and manage to contaminate the bento boxes, getting all but one member of the brass band sent to the hospital with food poisoning. The sole healthy musician left, Nakamura, blackmails the girls into filling in for the missing band members temporarily. They agree, but only care about ditching their make-up math class. Eventually they discover they actually enjoy playing and after the real brass band recovers the girls decide to form their own jazz band called the Swing Girls (and a Boy). Brass instruments aren’t cheap though, so they all have to get part-time jobs to come up with the cash. But with a group of personalities like this, it’s never quite that simple.
