Yudai Yamaguchi’s live-action adaptation of Tamami: The Baby’s Curse (Akanbo Shojo, 2008), will be released on Limited Edition Japanese DVD with English subtitles in March.

Plot: A 15-year-old orphan girl named Yoko (Nako Mizusawa) discovers that her father desperately wants her to come live at his sprawling mansion to reunite the Nanjo family, having lost her in an air raid when she was just an infant. What begins as every orphan’s dream turns into a nightmare as she discovers her mother is crazy and a disgusting monster that lives in the attic wants to kill her. The monster is Tamami, a deformed baby that the deranged Mrs. Nanjo seems to love but Mr. Nanjo would just as soon see gone from their house forever. Enraged at Yoko’s beauty, Tamami will stop at nothing to rid the world of such a blatant reminder of her own hideousness.

Region 2, NTSC, 2 discs, DVD-9 + DVD-5. Japanese Dolby 5.1 and stereo audio with selectable Japanese and English subtitles (main movie only). Main disc includes trailer and TV spots. Bonus disc includes Nako Mizusawa featurette, VFX and makeup documentaries, stage greetings and alternate ending.
