In Mechanical Violator Hakaider (Jinzo Ningen Hakaider, 1995), a cruel ruler named Girjev and his android companion Mikhail rule over a faux-utopia called Jesus Town. When an ancient android named Hakaider is awakened, unsure of its true purpose after spending many years offline, a girl named Kaoru and a band of rebels find him. Eventually the rebels are picked off by Girjev’s troops, leaving only Kaoru. Hakaider decides he likes Kaoru and she convinces him to help her take back the town from its evil leader. In Zeiram II (1994), Iria returns to Earth for a mission along with her computer, Bob, and a newly-engineered combat android is sent to assist her. What she doesn’t know, however, is that in creating the android the research team couldn’t create a sophisticated enough combat AI, and instead decided to just upload the vicious mind of a Zeiram. When the Zeiram takes control of the android it turns against Iria and uses its vast array of high-tech weaponry to attack her and her human friends, Teppei and Kamiya. It traps them all in an alternate dimension and the only way out is to destroy it… but how? This title is also available in The Zeiram Duology.
