In The Professor and His Beloved Equation (Hakase no Aishita Sushiki, 2006), a young maid (Eri Fukatsu) comes to work for a mathematics professor and genius (Akira Terao) who’s only capable of remembering 80 minutes into the past at any given time. She and her son, “Root”, see a form of beauty of the man’s love of math, and find special hidden meaning in the mathematical phrases he constantly utters.
