US distributor AnimEigo will be releasing Hideo Gosha’s The Secret of the Urn (Tange Sazen: Hien Iaigiri, 1966) on region 1 DVD with English subtitles on April 12th.
Plot: Samurai Samanosuke (Kinnosuke Nakamura) is attacked while on a mission for his clan, leaving his right eye slashed and right arm missing. After this incident, he becomes a ronin and takes on a new identity: Tange Sazen. He then attempts to recover an urn that was stolen from his clan which holds the secret to a treasure worth a million gold coins. His newfound wealth makes him the target of all sorts of unsavory characters, but he’s developed a deadly 1-armed sword-fighting technique and won’t be robbed so easily.
