Hong Kong distributor Edko Films released Shinji Higuchi’s The Sinking of Japan (Nippon Chinbotsu, 2006) on region 3 DVD with English subtitles on February 1, 2007.
Plot: A major earthquake hits Japan, after which scientists come to the conclusion that Japan will sink within 40 years and eventually evacuation will have to be considered. However, Dr. Takodoro soon discovers new evidence that Japan will sink much sooner than that, and the population has less than 1 year to evacuate to safety.
Specs: Region 3, NTSC, anamorphic widescreen, DVD-9. Japanese DTS-ES and Dolby Digital EX audio with optional English and Chinese subtitles. Features include stills gallery and trailers.
