The Ballad of Narayama

In a remote village, all people are banished to the top of Mount Nara to die when they reach the age of 70 so as not to burden the other villagers. Orin (Sumiko Sakamoto) is 69, and has some loose ends to tie up before her time comes. Region 1, NTSC, DVD9. Japanese audio with English subtitles. Subtitles also include optional cultural notes to help the viewer understand various aspects of the story and regional dialogue. Features include program notes, several trailers, and an image gallery.
