In The Black House (Kuroi Ie) an agent at the Showa Life Insurance receives a phone call from a woman who claims she’s considering committing suicide and wants to know if her insurance policy will pay out if she does. Concerned about her, the agent decides to travel to her house and make sure she’s okay. While he’s there he discovers the corpse of her young son hanging in one of the rooms of the house conspicuously for him to find, but again all anyone seems to care about is the possible insurance money they could get from his death. As he delves deeper into this family’s oddball behavior more people begin to die in strange “accidents” followed by absurd insurance claims. It soon becomes obvious his own life is in danger too.
