In Shogun’s Samurai (Yagyu Ichizoku no Inbo, 1978), skilled Shogun warriors are pitted against each other due to a long-planned deception by the Yagyu Family. Meanwhile, a group of nobles tries to use this moment of strife to restore power to the Emperor. [Watch trailer]

In Shogun’s Shadow (Shogun Iemitsu no Ranshin: Gekitotsu, 1989), Iemitsu, the Shogun, hates his oldest son Takechiyo and never hides the fact that he likes his younger son Tokumatsu much more. One day he summons Takechiyo in an attempt to lure his party into a trap, but with the help of the head of the Skura clan and seven loyal samurai he manages to fend off his attackers. In Swords of Vengeance: Fall of Ako Castle (Ako-Jo Danzetsu, 1978), the young master of Ako Castle, Asano, is shamed when he raises a sword against his elder, Lord Kira. To make up for this act, he’s ordered dissolve his clan and commit seppuku. Instead, he gathers up his loyal followers and comes up with an elaborate plot for revenge.

In Shogun’s Ninja (Ninja Bugeicho Momochi Sandayu, 1980), an ambitious warlord named Hideyoshi Toyotomi (Asao Koike) becomes determined to destroy the Momochi Clan. In order to do so, he sends his war commander to find two daggers that are the key to uncovering Momochi’s hidden cache of gold. [Watch trailer]
