In 2006 Higuchi Shinji’s big-budget, high profile disaster film “The Sinking of Japan” was released. Later that year, Minoru Kawasaki spoofed the scenario by presenting us with the exact opposite possiblity. In The World Sinks Except Japan (Nihon Igai Zenbu Chinbotsu), the entire world is submerged, leaving Japan as the only remaining super-power. Foreigners, including dignitaries and celebrities, are soon forced to take on menial positions in the new all-Japanese world order.
Region 1, NTSC, anamorphic widescreen 1.85:1, DVD9. Japanese stereo audio with English subtitles. Features include audio commentary (Minoru Kawasaki and Takenori Murano), making-of featurette, introductions from cast and director, and trailers.
