Tokyo Shock is re-re-releasing Ryuhei Kitamura's low-budget zombie/yakuza actioner Versus on DVD. This version seems to be pretty similar to the Ultimate Versus edition they released in March of '07, except it's 38 minutes shorter, comes in a slim case instead of a collector's tin, and the suggested retail price is 2 bucks cheaper *confetti*. If anyone has any insight into how this is an improvement I'd love to hear it.
Plot: Prisoner KSC2-303 (Tak Sakaguchi) breaks out of prison with his cell mate to meet up with some Yakuza at a nearby forest only to discover they've taken some girl hostage at the request of their boss who has not yet arrived. Never one to be patient he grabs the girl and takes off into the woods, unaware that an ancient grudge is about to be settled from a lifetime he has no recollection of.
