Aegis is a Japanese movie directed by Junji Sakamoto and based on a novel by Harutoshi Fukui. It was released by Shochiku and Nippon Herald Eiga in Japan on July 30, 2005.
In the film, an Aegis-class military vessel is hijacked by a disgruntled commanding officer named Miyatsu (Akira Terao) who is collaborating with an enemy spy (Kiichi Nakai) and his terrorist group. The terrorists then force the crew overboard and aim the ship’s powerful prototype weaponry toward Tokyo.
Only one man has a shot at stopping them: a non-commissioned officer named Sengoku (Hiroyuki Sanada) who knows every inch of the ship by heart. With this knowledge, he sneaks back on-board, determined to do whatever it takes to stop the destruction of Tokyo.
