Bushido Sixteen is a Japanese movie directed by Tomoyuki Furumaya and based on a novel by Tetsuya Honda. It was released by Go! Cinema in Japan on April 24, 2010.
The film stars Riko Narumi and Kie Kitano as two kendo students whose matches in junior high school spark a rivalry that continues on in the following years.
Kaori (Narumi) is an elite kendo fencer who values winning over everything and holds up legendary samurai Miyamoto Musashi as her personal hero. However, when she’s unexpectedly defeated by an insecure rookie fencer named Sanae (Kitano), her world is turned upside-down.
Kaori becomes obsessed with figuring out how she could lose to someone like Sanae, so she joins her new rival’s kendo club to find out. When she gets to know Sanae better, she’s shocked by how cheerful she is.
