Chameleon (2008)

Chameleon is a Japanese movie directed by Junji Sakamoto. It was released by Toei in Japan on July 5, 2008.

In a role originally intended for the late Yusaku Matsuda, the film stars Tatsuya Fujiwara as Goro, a talented conman and the leader of a small-time group of swindlers. He eventually falls in love with a beautiful fortune-teller named Keiko (Asami Mizukawa) and soon afterward, he witnesses the kidnapping of a key witness in a bribery case.

Unfortunately for him, the kidnappers are members of a powerful crime syndicate which has a policy against allowing witnesses to survive. Not wanting any trouble, Goro negotiates with the ringleader of the criminals, Kijima (Kosuke Toyohara), and successfully trades silence for his group’s safety.

When one of Goro’s group reneges on that agreement, the crew starts getting picked off one by one, and he’s forced to protect Keiko while planning his counter attack.
