Denden is a Japanese actor. He was born on January 23, 1950 in Chikushino, Fukuoka Prefecture but grew up in Dazaifu. He is typically cast in good-natured uncle type roles or as veteran detectives.
He was given his stage name by fellow actor and comedian Shoji Murakami. It’s based on “tentomushi-damashi”, a Japanese term for handsome fungus beetles which are considered cute.
