IZO is a Japanese movie directed by Takashi Miike. It was released by Team Okuyama in Japan on August 21, 2004.
The film stars Kazuya Nakayama as historical figure and expert swordsman Okada Izo. Instead of being a typical historical jidaigeki film, however, the story is set after his execution for crimes against the Tosa clan in 1865.
Izo’s thirst for vengeance propels him throughout time and space, leaving a trail of blood and destruction in his wake.
A group of leaders from various time periods and regions sees his rebirth as a threat against the reality they’ve carefully manipulated into existence, so they send countless waves of enemies to stop his progress at any cost.
