Kairo is a Japanese horror movie written and directed by Kiyoshi Kurosawa. It was released by Toho in Japan on February 10, 2001.

The film’s story involves a rash of suicides in Tokyo after a webcam feed offers the chance to commune with the dead. Gradually, a plague of deep depression, loneliness, and suicidal thoughts spreads quickly throughout the city as a small group of youths attempt to escape before they succumb to the sadness themselves.
In 2006, a Hollywood remake titled Pulse was released. It was directed by Jim Sonzero and starred actress Kristen Bell as a psychology student and girlfriend of a hacker who unwittingly unleashes releases a mysterious supernatural force through a powerful wireless internet signal.
