三谷幸喜 MITANI Koki

Koki Mitani is a Japanese director, actor, and playwright. He was born on July 8, 1961 in Setagaya, Tokyo.

He was formerly married to actress Satomi Kobayashi, but the couple filed for divorce on May 23, 2011.

Born in the heyday of sumo wrestling, he was named Koki after the 48th Yokozuna, Taihō Kōki (大鵬幸喜), who was generally regarded as the greatest sumo wrestler of the post-war era.
