Kou Shibasaki is a Japanese actress and singer. She was born on August 5, 1981 in Toshima, Tokyo. She is currently represented by Stardust Promotion.
Shibasaki was scouted at the age of 14 while walking around Sunshine City in Ikebukuro with a friend. However, because she was in the midst of high school exams at the time, she didn’t begin her activities in the entertainment industry until she was 16.
She took her stage name from a character in Junko Kawakami’s manga “Golden Delicious Apple Sherbet”, although she spells it with different Japanese characters than her fictional inspiration (柴崎 紅).
