Map of the Sounds of Tokyo is a 2009 Spanish movie directed by Isabel Coixet and set in Tokyo. It premiered at the Cannes FIlm Festival on May 23, 2009 and was publicly released by Alta Films in Spain on August 28, 2009.

Rinko Kikuchi stars as a fish market employee named Ryu who doubles as a contract killer. She’s hired by an employee of a powerful impresario to murder a man named David, who’s thought to be responsible for the suicide death of his boss’s daughter Midori. However, in the process of planning the hit, Ryu ends up falling in love.

Meanwhile, a sound engineer (Min Tanaka) who’s obsessed with the sounds of the city witnesses Ryu’s story from afar.
