Nightmare Detective 2 (2008)

Nightmare Detective 2 is a Japanese movie directed by Shinya Tsukamoto and the sequel to 2006’s Nightmare Detective. It screened at the Vladivostok International Film Festival on September 14, 2008 and was released by Movie-Eye Entertainment in Japan on December 20, 2008.

Ryuhei Matsuda returns as Kyoichi Kagenuma, the detective who can enter people’s nightmares.

In the film, a high school girl named Yukie (Yui Miura) comes to him for help escaping the nightmares she’s been having ever since she was involved in bullying another girl named Kikukawa (Hanae Kan). She first takes his advice to go apologize in person, but Kikukawa refuses to hear her out.

Yukie continues having her nightmares, but when she dreams of Kikukawa killing another bully, that girl soon ends up dead. Afraid she’ll be next, she relies on Kagenuma for protection and guidance.
