Nodame Cantabile: The Movie I is a Japanese movie directed by Hideki Takeuchi. It is the first of two films continuing the Fuji TV drama which was based on a long-running manga serial by Tomoko Ninomiya. The first film was released by Toho on December 19, 2009.
It was followed by Nodame Cantabile: The Movie II, which was released on April 17, 2010.
Picking up where the 2008 television special left off, Chiaki (Hiroshi Tamaki) is now preparing to take over the conductor position of the Roux-Marlet Orchestra on a permanent basis. However, he’s shocked at just how unmotivated his musicians are. He calls Nodame (Juri Ueno) to perform with his orchestra periodically, but as their performance date rapidly approaches, a terrible fate awaits him.
