Elevator to the Gallows (2010)

Elevator to the Gallows is a Japanese remake of Louis Malle’s 1957 French film “Ascenseur pour l’échafaud”. It was released by Kadokawa in Japan on October 9, 2010.

Hiroshi Abe stars as a charming doctor named Tokito Takahiko and Michiko Kichise plays his lover, Meiko Temiyako.

Meiko is the wife of the president of a major medical company, so she convinces Tokito to murder her husband so that they can be together. They come up with the perfect plan so that Tokito can sneak into the man’s office and murder him in a way that makes it look like a suicide, but when he’s making his escape, the elevator breaks down. Meanwhile, a young couple takes off with his getaway car, leading to further confusion.
