The Peak (2011)

The Peak is a Japanese movie directed by Osamu Katayama and based on a manga by Shinichi Ishizuka. It was released by Toho in Japan on May 7, 2011.

Shun Oguri stars as an experienced mountain climber and rescue volunteer named Sanpo Shimazaki. Sanpo is able to put disaster and death in perspective, dealing with tragedy by facing the bodies of the fallen and saying “You did your best.” However, a newcomer to the team named Kumi Shiina (Masami Nagasawa) has a difficult time when faced with these events. She learns a lot from Sanpo and the team, but gradually loses confidence in herself when she’s unable to save someone’s life. She decides to quit, but a blizzard forces the team into action as multiple accidents occur simultaneously.
