The Shonen Merikensack is a Japanese movie written and directed by Kankuro Kudo. It premiered at the Tokyo International Film Festival on October 19, 2008 and was released publicly by Toei on February 14, 2009.
Aoi Miyazaki stars as a record company employee named Kanna who discovers a video clip of a punk rock band called Shonen Merikensack on the internet. Sure that she’s about to be fired, Kanna shows the clip to her boss anyway. Surprisingly, he likes it and sends her on a quest to sign them to their label. Unfortunately, she realizes too late that the clip was actually recorded in the early 1980s and the band is now in their 50s and haven’t played together in years.
