13 Assassins (2010)

13 Assassins is a Japanese movie directed by Takashi Miike. It’s a remake of Eiichi Kudo’s 1963 film by the same name. It premiered at the Venice Film Festival on September 9, 2010 and was released publicly by Toho in Japan on September 25, 2010.

Plot

In the movie, Koji Yakusho leads an ensemble cast portraying Shimada Shinzaemon, a samurai who receives an order to assassinate a tyrant lord who is murdering and exploiting civilians.

However, as he gathers a team of capable assassin samurai, an expert swordsman named Kito Hanbei (Masachika Ichimura) hears of their plan to launch a sneak attack. The team of 13 assassins will be far outnumbered as they attempt to reach their target.
